Mothers Morning Tea

I got invited to a Morning Tea for all the  mothers at my Kid's school and decided to make a quick cake to take along. First time I tried the Tulips and had to have an early start to the day to finish off the cake ;-)

A quick cake for my hubby.....

My hubby is not a big fan of cakes ......cutting one is always the last thing on his mind, so I was initially not going to make one but due to pressure from all ends ( not him but everybody else ) .

Voila......A last minute vegetarian chocolate cake  with a mishmash of some of the decorations I had made previously and covered with only chocolate butter cream.

A Wonderfully Talented Lady that INSPIRED Me........................

When I first started this blog.....I had intended to use it as my diary... as my log for all my creations. Hence you saw all things made by MOI.

Today however I want to talk about my INSPIRATION... The lady who inspired me enough to start a journey into this wonderful world of SUGAR ARTISTRY. I want show you a little bit of the work of this fabulously talented lady. She doesn't know that I am writing this so I am using whatever pics I could take and have from the cakes she made for us.

When I first saw her cakes I was so much in awe with her beautiful dainty creations... the flowers she makes are to die for, this was about more than 10 years ago. I wished then that I could  create something like that or at least half of that. ........
Then my wedding came up and wanted desperately to have her cake for our reception. It was less than a month to the wedding and quite a few people told me that she usually needs a lot more than a month's notice for her to accept a wedding cake...........

I hoped , I prayed and I called......................... I was so over the Moon when she said YES she will do it.......  It was a gorgeous two tier hear shaped cake with dusty pink and green Orchids (One of my favourite flowers) and royal Icing lace work on the sides and ribbon. It tasted awesome too.

These are the pictures of the Orchids I took today more than 10 years after they were made....They still look like they were made yesterday..so Beautiful, so Real, so much attention to detail, such clean and neat work....... Don't you think so?. These are just half the Orchids she made, there is another lot just like this in another box, such patience to make all these delicate dainty flower.... I wish i had half of that......

She also ended up making my son's 1st birthday cake. That too was at the last minute that I asked her (I was going to try ... to do my first proper cake but I was too scared to start and then something came up  and I was unable to do it ) , she was quite busy but she took some time to  make a cute Bugs Bunny Buttercream cake.

Thank you so much for being so lovely to us and for being such a beautiful INSPIRATION in my journey..............
